Atithi Health

FAQ

Plain answers about who we are, costs, visas, food and aftercare. Atithi Health is a medical travel facilitator, not a healthcare provider. Clinical care is delivered by independent licensed partners.

Are you a hospital?

No. Atithi Health (Atithi Care Travel LLP) is a medical travel facilitator. Clinical care is provided by independent licensed partner hospitals and clinics. We coordinate hospitality, travel and communication under Atithi Devo Bhava — the guest is God — we do not diagnose or treat you ourselves.

How do you make money?

Patient coordination is free. Partner facilities may pay a referral fee, and we earn a disclosed margin on hotels, transfers and concierge services. We do not add a hidden markup to the treating provider's clinical price.

Are prices fixed?

No. From-prices on the site are indicative estimates in USD. Your final written quote comes from the treating provider after reviewing your reports. Flights are not included.

What's included and what's not?

Typical plans can include airport pick-up and drop, transfers to appointments, hotel or recovery stay near the clinic, local SIM help, a named coordinator on WhatsApp, interpreter on request, visa invitation support, dietary preferences (vegetarian, vegan, halal, gluten-free when arranged), companion stay support, wheelchair assistance on request, and follow-up teleconsults. Usually not included: international flights, personal shopping, clinical extras decided after assessment, and insurance premiums. Ordinary travel insurance often excludes planned treatment — we recommend medical-travel or complication cover. TODO(founder): confirm package inclusions per partner.

How does the medical visa work?

Most nationalities can apply online for an Indian e-Medical visa. The partner hospital issues the invitation letter through the Government portal; we help gather paperwork. Companions usually use the attendant category (often up to two). Always confirm eligibility and rules on the official Government of India e-Visa website.

Can family come with me?

Yes. Many guests bring a companion. Attendant visas commonly allow up to two attendants linked to the patient — confirm current rules on the official e-Visa site. We can arrange companion hotel stay when booked in your plan.

How long should I stay?

It depends on the treatment: many dental and eye pathways need about 4–10 days; full-arch dental can need 8–12 days for the first stage; hair transplant often 4–6 nights; health checks 1–2 days; Panchakarma often 14–21 nights. Your written plan will state a recommended window after clinical review.

Is it safe?

We work with accredited/registered partners and written plans. No medical travel is risk-free; your clinician explains individual risks.

What happens on arrival?

When airport welcome is in your plan, a driver meets you, helps with a local SIM if needed, and takes you to hotel check-in. Your coordinator confirms the next day's appointments on WhatsApp. Exact logistics are written into your itinerary before you fly.

How do I check accreditation?

Ask for the accreditation body and ID, then verify on the official NABH/JCI (or relevant) public directories. We can help you locate listings.

What if I have a problem after returning home?

Contact your Atithi coordinator first. We help arrange a scheduled video follow-up with the treating partner when clinically appropriate and share your English records. For emergencies abroad, use local emergency services. Complication pathways depend on the provider's policy and your insurance — we recommend medical-travel cover before you fly.

Will my insurance cover treatment in India?

Many standard travel policies exclude planned medical treatment abroad. Some guests use medical-travel or complication insurance. We cannot promise what your insurer will pay — check your policy in writing before you book.

How do I pay? Who pays the hospital, and when?

Clinical fees are usually paid directly to the treating provider as they instruct. Atithi invoices hospitality and coordination separately when used. Timing is written into your plan. TODO(founder): confirm payment rails per partner.

Who sees my medical reports?

Only Atithi team members who need them to coordinate your plan, and partner clinicians you consent to share with (typically up to a small number of facilities for opinions/quotes). We do not sell your health data. You can withdraw consent — see our Privacy Notice and consent-withdrawal page.

Can food be halal or vegetarian?

Yes — tell us early. We arrange vegetarian, vegan, halal or gluten-free meals when the hotel or recovery stay can provide them. During Panchakarma, meals follow the prescribing doctor's therapeutic diet, which we explain in advance.

What about refunds?

Atithi coordination fees follow our refund policy. Provider and hotel cancellations follow their policies. If a doctor declines candidacy, Atithi fees are refundable as stated in our policy.

What visa do I need for Ayurveda or yoga?

Accredited AYUSH centres can support the e-AYUSH visa invitation for eligible programmes such as doctor-supervised Panchakarma. Companions use the attendant category where applicable. Short yoga holidays sometimes use tourist entry — we confirm the right pathway for your itinerary. Always verify on the official e-Visa website.

Will I need two trips for dental implants?

Sometimes. If immediate loading is suitable, a temporary tooth may be placed on the first trip. If the bone needs time to fuse, the final crown often needs a second visit about 3–4 months later. Your partner dentist decides after CBCT review.

Can I withdraw consent?

Yes. Use the consent withdrawal form or email the grievance officer. Withdrawal is as easy as giving consent.

When can I fly after dental treatment?

Many implant and smile guests fly after about a week once the dentist confirms fit-to-fly. Full-arch temporary bridge stages often need 8–12 days. Your written plan will state the earliest sensible departure.

When can I fly after a hair transplant?

Often after 4–6 nights when the surgeon confirms fit-to-fly. Follow wash, sun and exercise rules carefully — results still take 6–12 months to show.

Can my diet be catered for during Ramadan?

Yes — tell us early. We can plan meal timing around fasting, and arrange halal food when the hotel or recovery stay can provide it. Clinical schedules (for example fasting blood tests) are planned with the partner team so your care and your observance both work.

When can I fly after LASIK or SMILE?

Many guests fly after the day-3–5 review when the surgeon clears them. Avoid swimming and dusty places for about a week.

Do you offer airport wheelchair help?

Yes — we can arrange wheelchair assistance at the airport and for transfers when requested in your plan. Tell us before you fly so airlines and drivers are briefed.

Which interpreter languages?

English is standard. Arabic and Bengali coordinator support is a target capability — TODO(founder): confirm available languages.

What is Panchakarma?

Panchakarma is a doctor-supervised Ayurvedic cleansing programme, usually 14–21 nights, with daily consults, therapies, prescribed diet and yoga. It complements conventional care — it does not replace medicines or hospital treatment your doctor has prescribed.

Can Ayurveda replace my regular medicines?

No. Ayurveda programmes at Atithi are complementary. Do not stop prescribed medicines unless your own treating doctor advises it in writing.

Are dental implants permanent?

Implants are designed as a long-term replacement. With healthy gums, good cleaning and regular checks, many last many years — but nothing is guaranteed for life. Crowns on implants may need replacing sooner than the titanium post.

Does a dental implant hurt?

Placement is done under local anaesthetic, so you should not feel sharp pain during the procedure. Mild soreness afterward is common for a few days. Sedation can be discussed if you are anxious — the dentist decides what is appropriate.

How long is recovery after a dental implant?

Soft diet and mild swelling often last 1–2 weeks. Soft tissues usually settle enough to fly after about a week when cleared. The implant still fuses with bone over 3–6 months at home.

Can I get an implant the same day as an extraction?

Sometimes — called an immediate implant — when bone and gums allow. If the socket is infected or bone is thin, your dentist may graft first or wait before placing the implant. This is decided after CBCT review, not guaranteed in advance.

Am I a good candidate for a hair transplant?

Good candidates usually have patterned thinning and enough donor hair at the back or sides. Active scalp disease, unrealistic density goals, or pressure for same-day surgery are reasons to pause. A partner surgeon confirms suitability after photos or video — in writing.

Do you add hidden markups to clinical prices?

No. Your clinical price is the provider's international price.

Which hair method suits me — FUE, DHI or FUT?

FUE takes individual follicles with no linear scar. DHI places follicles with a pen-like tool, often for density in smaller areas. FUT uses a thin strip and usually costs less but leaves a fine linear scar. The surgeon recommends a method after seeing your donor area and goals.

Is there a cooling-off period for surgery?

We encourage unhurried decisions. Surgical consent happens with your clinician; you may decline at any time before treatment.

Is a hair transplant painful?

The procedure is done under local anaesthetic. You may feel pressure or tingling, not sharp cutting pain, once numb. Mild soreness afterward for a day or two is common and managed with medicines the clinic provides.

What are the risks of a hair transplant?

Risks include infection, patchy or uneven growth, shock loss (temporary shedding of nearby or transplanted hairs), scarring (a fine line with FUT; tiny dots with FUE/DHI), and needing a second session for density. Results vary; no clinic can guarantee a specific look.

Will I get more than one option?

Where possible we present at least two suitable partner options.

How long do you keep my uploads?

Uploads are retained for a configurable period (default 180 days) unless treatment proceeds and longer retention is needed.

When can I go back to work after a hair transplant?

Desk work is often possible within a few days if you are comfortable and can follow wash and sun rules. Roles with heavy exercise, dust or helmets may need longer — ask your surgeon. Flying is often cleared after 4–6 nights.

Am I suitable for LASIK?

Suitability depends on day-1 tests: corneal mapping, thickness, dry-eye check and your prescription. Some people are better suited to SMILE or ICL (for example very high prescriptions or thin corneas). The ophthalmologist decides — not the website.

Do you treat minors?

We do not process minors' health data without verifiable parental consent and an appropriate clinical pathway.

Is LASIK permanent?

LASIK permanently reshapes the cornea treated. Natural ageing (for example reading glasses later in life) can still change your vision needs. Enhancement is sometimes discussed years later if the surgeon agrees — it is not automatic.

What are the risks of laser eye surgery?

Common temporary effects include dry eyes and glare or halos at night while healing. Less common risks include under- or over-correction, infection, or need for further treatment. Your surgeon explains personal risks after your eye tests.

Can I come on a tourist visa for yoga?

Some non-medical yoga stays use e-Tourist — confirm eligibility on the official portal.

Can invitation letter mistakes be corrected?

Details must match your passport exactly. Corrections are often not possible once issued — we double-check before submission.

When can I fly, swim or use screens after LASIK or SMILE?

Many guests fly after the day-3–5 review when cleared. Avoid swimming and dusty places for about a week. Screens are usually fine in short sessions with lubricating drops — follow your surgeon’s written advice.

What documents do I need?

Passport (6+ months validity), photo, hospital letter, and relevant medical reports are common requirements.

When is ICL better than LASIK?

ICL is often considered when laser is not suitable — for example very high prescriptions or thin corneas — after full eye tests. Indicative India range about $2,000–3,500 both eyes. TODO(founder): confirm. Your ophthalmologist decides.

How long does visa paperwork take?

It varies by nationality and season. Start early; we share a checklist after your plan is drafted.

Who pays the hospital, and when?

Clinical fees are usually paid directly to the treating hospital or clinic as they instruct (front desk, bank transfer or card — methods vary). Atithi invoices hospitality and coordination items separately when used. Timing is written into your plan before you travel. TODO(founder): confirm payment rails per partner.

Any arrival tips?

Keep printed copies of invitation and hotel details. Your coordinator shares a meet-and-greet plan.

What if I'm not a good candidate?

If partner specialists review your reports and you are not a suitable candidate, you are not pushed to travel. Atithi coordination fees you have already paid for planning are refunded in full — clinical deposits already paid to a hospital follow that provider’s own policy. TODO(founder): confirm refund wording in Terms.

Do you sell insurance? What complication cover should I buy?

Atithi Health does not sell insurance. We strongly recommend medical-travel complication insurance that covers problems after treatment, including after you return home. Ordinary travel insurance usually excludes planned treatment. What to look for: cover for complications such as infection or implant failure, follow-up treatment at home, length of cover (ideally 12 months), and a clear claims process. We are working with insurance partners — TODO(founder).

Which languages do your coordinators speak?

TODO(founder): list live coordinator languages. We arrange interpreters on request for clinical appointments, and we match you with a coordinator who can communicate clearly with you in writing on WhatsApp.

Will I get records in English?

Yes — we request English medical summaries and imaging copies for your travel home.

How do follow-ups work?

Scheduled video follow-ups with the treating doctor at agreed intervals, coordinated by Atithi.

How fast can I get a free treatment plan?

Send your reports or photos — we aim to arrange a free treatment plan from up to 3 partner specialists within 48–72 hours for the treatments we offer. Opinions come from the partner doctors, not from Atithi Health. We are a facilitator, not a healthcare provider.

What follow-up do I get after I return home?

After returning home, follow-up teleconsults with your treating doctor are scheduled at set points when clinically appropriate — for example around 1 week, 6 weeks and 6 months. Partner doctors in your country (UAE, Oman, UK — coming soon) — TODO(founder).

How do you choose partners?

We look for accreditation/registration, international desks, published pricing pathways, and video-consult support. TODO(founder): publish final criteria.
