Dental implants in Bengaluru

A permanent way to replace a missing or badly damaged tooth — a titanium post placed in the jaw, then a custom crown that looks and works like a natural tooth.

Typical stay: 7–10 days · often 2 trips

Sample – to be confirmed

Overview

What to expect

Guests come to us when a tooth is gone, failing, or cannot be saved with a simple crown. An implant helps you chew again and can help preserve the jawbone that otherwise shrinks after tooth loss. Who is suitable: adults with healthy gums and enough jawbone. Suitability is always confirmed on CBCT. Assessed case by case: uncontrolled diabetes, bleeding/clotting disorders, heavy smoking, and bone conditions — the partner dentist decides after reviewing your history and scans. Immediate implants: when bone allows, the implant can be placed at the same visit as an extraction. Some patients need a bone graft first if the socket or ridge is too thin — that can mean healing time before the implant, or grafting at the same visit when the clinician says it is safe. Recovery: soft diet and mild swelling for about 1–2 weeks; the implant fuses with bone over 3–6 months at home. Soft-tissue healing in India is often about a week before fit-to-fly. Atithi Health is a medical travel facilitator, not a healthcare provider. Clinical care is delivered by independent licensed partner clinics — TODO(founder): add partner.

Good candidates

  • Adults with healthy gums and enough jawbone to support an implant (confirmed on scan)
  • Adults with one or more missing or non-restorable teeth
  • Guests who can share recent dental X-rays (OPG/CBCT) and a short medical history

Not suitable if

  • Assessed case by case — the dentist decides: uncontrolled diabetes, bleeding or clotting disorders, heavy smoking, or bone conditions
  • Active infection until cleared by the treating clinician
  • Anyone expecting a guaranteed cosmetic outcome — results vary by bone, gums and healing

How it works

From first report to fit-to-fly

Anaesthesia: Usually local anaesthesia; sedation only if the treating clinician recommends it. Duration: Often 1–2 hours per implant site; longer for multiple implants.

  1. Share scans and history

Send OPG/CBCT and photos. A partner clinician reviews bone, gums and whether extraction-day placement or a graft-first pathway is wiser.

  2. CBCT and written plan in India

On arrival, a cone-beam scan confirms bone. You receive a written plan before anything irreversible begins.

  3. Extraction and/or implant placement

Under local anaesthesia (sedation only if advised). Immediate implant at extraction is used only when bone allows; otherwise a graft or healing period may come first.

  4. Healing and crown

If immediate loading is suitable, a temporary tooth may be placed. Otherwise the final crown often needs a second short trip after about 3–4 months of bone fusion.

Recovery

Healing notes

Most guests fly after about a week once the dentist confirms fit-to-fly. Full bone fusion still continues for months at home.

  1. Days 1–14

Soft diet and mild swelling are common for 1–2 weeks. Medicines and gentle cleaning as taught; daily coordinator check-ins.

  2. About week 1

Stitches review if used. Your dentist confirms fit-to-fly before you leave India.

  3. Months 3–6 at home

The implant fuses with bone. Final crown may need a second visit if not placed on the first trip.

Risks to discuss with your clinician

  • Infection, swelling, bruising, or temporary numbness
  • Implant failure or need for bone grafting if bone is thin
  • Bite adjustment or crown remake if the bite changes during healing

FAQs

Common questions

Will I need two trips for dental implants?

Sometimes. If immediate loading is suitable, a temporary tooth may be placed on the first trip. If the bone needs time to fuse, the final crown often needs a second visit about 3–4 months later. Your partner dentist decides after CBCT review.

When can I fly after dental treatment?

Many implant and smile guests fly after about a week once the dentist confirms fit-to-fly. Full-arch temporary bridge stages often need 8–12 days. Your written plan will state the earliest sensible departure.

Are dental implants permanent?

Implants are designed as a long-term replacement. With healthy gums, good cleaning and regular checks, many last many years — but nothing is guaranteed for life. Crowns on implants may need replacing sooner than the titanium post.

Does a dental implant hurt?

Placement is done under local anaesthetic, so you should not feel sharp pain during the procedure. Mild soreness afterward is common for a few days. Sedation can be discussed if you are anxious — the dentist decides what is appropriate.

How long is recovery after a dental implant?

Soft diet and mild swelling often last 1–2 weeks. Soft tissues usually settle enough to fly after about a week when cleared. The implant still fuses with bone over 3–6 months at home.

Can I get an implant the same day as an extraction?

Sometimes — called an immediate implant — when bone and gums allow. If the socket is infected or bone is thin, your dentist may graft first or wait before placing the implant. This is decided after CBCT review, not guaranteed in advance.
